Hunan Chinese Restaurant in Alamosa

As most restaurants that bring us Asian Style Cuisine (no offense, intended, or otherwise implied) the Hunan Chinese Restaurant here in Alamosa, Colorado can be hit or miss. Most noticably, the difference in quality of both the service and the menu from lunch to dinner is a definite detraction from this dining choice in town. Of which there are not many. The average patron can not possibly predict which time of which day will assure the upper levels of quality we all desire. This is Not Good. But when the Human Chinese Restaurant is in top form, it is rather excellent; thus hard to beat, here in our Alamosa.

Sushi!!!! This place is truly Great! When it comes down to filling the belly, you will leave this restaurant satisfied every time. Lunch and dinner menus are full of many options: VEGETARIAN, seafood, combos, appetizers, etc. NOTE: SUSHI MENU IS SEPARATE AND VAST IN VARIETY!!!

Four of us ate there last night. My husband ate a Tofu dish and got very sick. I hope he will be better tomorrow.

Cause Everything Is Amazing

The pad thai hurt my soul. It had a really strange tasting spice on it. Also the music made it feel like I was in the waiting room at the dentist's.

The restaurant itself has authentic vibes but the food does not. The dumplings would have tasted better out of the freeze aisle. The waiter was very nice and helpful though. The adult drinks were also good it was really just the food that wasnt good but I appreciate the effort.

Hunan is the best Chinese restaurant. Living in Denver, we wait to eat Chinese food until we visit the San Luis Valley simply because there is not a better option. Egg rolls are the best I have had. Sushi is fantastic. Would also highly recommend the House of Thai curry dish. Service is fast and friendly.

I keep going back because my experience was great one time, but sadly, the other dozen meals have been misordered, cold, or otherwise sub par. The service staff does not impress me at all. Today I was blamed. Was told that I ordered the wrong thing, but I most certainly did not. I haven't had the lunch buffet, but my a la carte meals haven't been good..except for that one time...

This place had improved so much in the last few years, it's amazing! Its standard American Chinese food, but lately everything has been fresh and delicious! Restaurant is clean and service is good! We did not have the buffet, so I don't know how it is.

Ordered pu pu platter and suppose to come with 2 of each listing and were out of skewers and ribs.so we asked for substitutes and got nothing more per the chefs. How wrong. The waitress paid for their mistake. So we paid her for their mistake.

I will give them four stars as I ordered two items on the menu. I ordered shrimps rice noodles, it was outstanding, shrimps were fresh, rice noodles cooked to perfection, and a lot of veggies mixed together. I am from Hong kong, I know what is a good rice noodles dish should be. My husband ordered spicy eggplant, another good tasty food. They used the authentic Chinese spicy sauce on the eggplant. In addition, they gave us the lee kam kee brand name Chinese soy sauce package. I haven't seen any Chinese restaurants would offer such an authentic touch. This is the second best Chinese restaurant I have ever eaten in America so far. I didn't expect there is a good Chinese food in the middle of nowhere in colorado.

I ordered my delivery at least 2 hours (or more) in advance, and they said "we will deliver as close to 830pm as possible" because they didn't know how busy they were going to get. I get it, its student move-in season and a Saturday night. They knocked on my door at 823pm and everything is perfect. Thank you Hunan!

Really fun Chinese restaurant! I love taking my kids for a special treat. The people are always so kind, and the food is very consistently good.

Love the sushi. Have ordered numerous times take out, always over $100. Tonight was told they dont do take out sushi anymore. An empty restaurant and they dont want a $100+ order. Drove all the way from Monte. May be time to master sushi making myself. Dont know if we'll be back.

Great authentic Asian Cuisine. The variety of Southeast Asian Delicacies is stunning. Almost every country and culture is made to order.

Pretty good, but my food was a little too salty

Service was outstanding, but the food was so salty it was barely edible. I think it would have been good, otherwise. Go ahead and try it, but tell them to hold the salt!

Update-(post covid) the service was fast! I was so so so happy that they were able to reopen. Hunan has been the meals of pampering and celebrating for my family. They even made my sauce fresh. It is worth all the wait.Its been a long time in between my visits. THEY HAVE STEPPED IT UP and I can't wait to go back and try something new after all they have over a hundred num nums to choose from.

I love their sushi but when I try to order, I cant ever get through on the phone. One time i called 74 times. Today ive called 40+ times already. Super bummer.

So I've been warned about this place ever since I moved to the Valley. But since I was given $30 worth of gift cards to the restaurant I figured I'd try it. I can't review the food because it never showed up. After over an hour of waiting I get a call saying the driver can't find my house. Apparently she doesnt have a smart phone to google the address with? It's not exactly hard to find my house. In fact this is the first person who has ever had an issue. The drivers solution was to meet me somewhere which defeats the purpose of delivery. Since we had waited so long we already fed the kids and told them to just keep the food. Never going to bother again especially since delivery is apparently not an option. Maywas is cheaper and much easier to deal with. Cant compare the food but it is what it is

I love this place hands down the best place for Chinese food this side of the Mississippi.

It was really good. Wait staff was friendly. Food was great. The sushi bar was not available so it was a bit disappointing however still delicious.

This is by far the best Chinese restaurant hands down. The food was actually authentic and tasty! The prices are way cheaper compared to others and the buffet is just wonderful. Sushi is great as well and even cheaper than the other sushi restaurants. Service is great and is one of my favorite restaurants!

Decent sushi, not a fan of the buffet though. But they need a multi line phone!!! I called for a half hour yesterday and barely got through. This has happened to my husband in the past as well.

Love the food but everytime I call to order the line is busy for hours =/

Tried calling to place an order for delivery for a whole 30 min and the line was busy. Whats the point in having delivery if the phone is off the hook

I was there about two weeks ago and Dovanna was our waitress she was kind friendly always helpful. We watched her when she was not busy and she was always cleaning and keeping busy. The food was great. Me and my family can't wait to go back.

I only really like the sushi here.

worst chinese food I've ever had. service was very pushy and wouldn't stop checking on us when we needed more time on the menu. i got the chow mein. chow mein should have noodles in it. the only noodles were crispy wonton noodles that had become soggy. meat tasted spoiled. everything was slimy. hot and sour soup tasted extremely acidic and tasted like acid reflux. the smell was nauseating and made me uncomfortable the whole time. hostess didn’t wear a mask. poor service. poor food. poor sanitation. if i could give it 0 stars i would.

Tried calling for over 40 minutes to only get a busy line. Then at 8:56 they finally answer the phone. The hostess tells me that they stop making sushi at 8 and I asked her why the phone line was busy and she said someone was probably on it like she didn't have a clue, that's her job is to use the phone. .. Pathetic. so I guess if you're hungry for a busy line and incompetent service Hunan is the place for you.

Great food and friendly service! This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the valley. The lunch buffet is affordable and has a nice variety. The sushi is fresh and delicious. I have had a lot of sushi all over the country and the sushi here is excellent quality. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

Nice mix of Asian food, well prepared

This place and the buffet get busy at lunch time. It has as you expect orange chicken and broccoli beef. They have good egg drop soup that's pretty filling and has plenty of vegetables. The sushi is expensive and just getting a few I paid quite a lot like $75 for everything. They have Japanese ice cream in a lot of flavors. They are good but they only give you a little.

Love it super clean to go orders super fast

The food was really good here. I actually only had a light meal, but I certainly would go back to dry some other food. A good Chinese restaurant in Colorado is hard to find. I don't know what it is that makes it so different, but it's just not like New York Chinese restaurants. But the food here was really well done as well as fresh. The service was pretty good. It was a little strange when I first walked in, nothing I could pinpoint just the way the hostess was. But I would go back for sure.
